Formal-Invitations.com was founded in 1991 by Melissa Nyssen, to offer an alternative to high priced custom invitations and cheap, flimsy, kits that we found difficult to setup and print. Our mission is to provide high quality, unique, earth-friendly and incredibly easy do it yourself wedding invitations, all for under $1 each. Our exclusive invitations are not available in stores, only directly from us at www.formal-invitations.com to provide the lowest possible price. Select from over 100 invitation kits, or mix and match 50 earth-friendly cards and 200 embellishments to create luxurious invitations for less $1 each, which includes the background card, printable overlay, embellishment and envelope. An additional outer envelope, envelope liner, tissue overlay, wax/foil seals and corresponding cards are additional options offered. The layered invitations were designed to be made easily and consist of a heavyweight background cards pre-cut to the correct size to fit in their envelopes and standard (easy to print) 8.5×11 overlay made for ink jets, lasers and copiers. Using our free word processing templates, the process is simple: just change the wording, print and cut …no tiny sheets to setup and try to print on! Every effort is made to provide earth-friendly papers, most of our papers (and all envelopes) are made from 30-100% recycled paper or tree free paper, and processed chlorine free or elemental chlorine free. We are approved for people and planet by Co-op America and listed in the Green Pages. Frequently asked questions about our wedding invitations: Do you offer a catalog/samples? In order to keep our prices as low as possible, we do not offer a printed catalog. However, we do offer wedding invitation samples, which are the best way to accurately view our high quality papers and embellishments. When will I receive my order?/How much is shipping? We provide shipping via UPS within the US, costs are calculated by UPS and are based on weight of order and location, you will be able to view options and prices before submitting order. Sorry, we are no longer shipping outside the US. Custom printed wedding invitations are shipped approximately two weeks after receipt of signed approval of artwork. Delivery times for blank do-it-yourself wedding invitations supplies are as follows: Ground: Orders will normally be delivered 4-10 business days, delivery times are estimates and are not guaranteed. 2-Day Air: Orders received before 10:00am cst will arrive in two business days in most locations (Monday through Friday excluding holidays) Can I use my ink jet/laser printer with your papers?Our vellum overlay paper is made for ink jet and laser printers. Printing on 65# and 80# cover stock is not guaranteed by the mills, we recommend ordering a sample sheet and testing with your printer first. We recommend using a laser printer or copier as most inkjet ink is not waterproof, though you can buy water resistant ink or use an inkjet spray fixative. Our background cards are too thick to print with inkjet or laser printers. How many overlays do I need for my invitations?Order one overlay per invitation, our 4.25x5.5 overlays are sold uncut in standard 8.5x11 sheets for ease of printing, as small precut sheets would be very difficult to setup, feed and print correctly. Each 8.5x11 sheet will provide four 4.25x5.5 overlays using our free wedding invitation templates. We will calculate the amount of sheets you will receive, for example if you order 25 overlays, you will receive (7) 8.5x11 sheets, if you order 100 overlays, you will receive (25) 8.5x11 sheets. Do you offer reply cards and reception cards?We offer pre-printed reply cards in white or sage, please note wording cannot be changed with these cards--you can create your own cards with our blank 8.5x11 cover stock. Custom printed cards are available only with custom invitations orders. What is the postage required to mail invitations?We recommend bringing a sample of the invitations with the cards to the post office to determine the postage required. If the handmade cards are used, the weight could vary for each card and we recommend having the post office calculate postage for each invitation. Are the holes punched in the background cards?The holes are not punched, we provide a template for recommended hole placement with all orders. Do you offer thank you cards or wedding programs?You can make thank you's with our background cards or cover stock (cut to make 3.5x5 cards) to fit inside our reply envelopes. The background cards can be folded to 3.5x5 booklets with a vellum insert and tied shut with a ribbon to make attractive wedding programs. Custom printed thank you's and programs are not available at this time. How many supplies should I order? Count the number of actual invitations you need to mail out, not the number of guests--it is also wise to order an additional 25 as our paper stock frequently changes. How do I order? Do-it-yourself wedding invitation supplies can be ordered securely online with Mastercard or Visa. Click for instructions how to order custom printed wedding invitations. What is your return policy? Unused packs of wedding invitations supplies may be returned for a refund within 30 days of the invoice date (samples and shipping are not refundable). All items must be returned in original packaging with a copy of the invoice in a box. We cannot accept partial or used packs of supplies or items returned in an envelope, as they could be damaged during transit. We recommend using tracking and insurance, please do not send via certified or registered mail--the post office will not deliver these, and due to time constraints we are not able to travel to the post office for pickups.
