These fashion-forward wedding invitations by Formal-Invitations.com were created using Pantone’s fall colors for 2011. We selected the Ornate Cherubic Design from their custom printed invitation card collection and substituted (at no extra charge) their colors for Deep Teal, Cedar and Phlox, creating a modern look with the vintage artwork. We could also add a backing card in Meadow Green providing extra weight and dimension for only 24¢ extra (each).
The beautiful cards were a great value at only $164 for 100, order from http://www.formal-invitations.com/PC-ORNA-CHER.html

Inspired by Pantone’s fall color report, we put together a fresh, modern palette using pear green, teal and royal purple. The designers secret to using these colors is to choose one dominant (60%), a secondary (30%) and an accent color (10%) throughout your event for a consistent look.
We used these hues to create this fabulous wedding invitation using a heavyweight Anjou background card and crisp white overlay wrapped in romantic lace and a contemporary royal purple satin belly bands ($1.26 each from Formal-Invitations.com). Teal would also look great with the lace and purple band. Order at http://www.formal-invitations.com/AYR-ANJO-LARO.html

Inspired by the top 10 PANTONE colors for fashion, which were chosen by New York designers for spring 2011, we created this vibrant color palette of berry pink, goldenrod yellow and papaya orange for upcoming spring weddings and events.
An easy way to apply these hues is the designers 60-30-10 trick … use 60% of the main color, 30% of the secondary and a splash of the accent color throughout your event. For these chic wedding invitations, the heavyweight Berry card and printed overlay were wrapped with the modern-floral California fine paper sash ($1.06 each for a complete diy kit or $151 for 100 printed invitations from Formal-Invitations.com, order at http://www.formal-invitations.com/pink-wedding-invitations.html
Inspired by Pantone.com’s spring fashion color report, http://www.formal-invitations.com, a great source for wedding invitations, has put together hues that will be hot this spring. A soft hint of pink and pretty lavender will create an elegant look, while vibrant papaya orange and berry pink make a bold contemporary statement. Tiffany blue is still going strong, as well as Chocolate brown for the upcoming season. What will be the main color for your spring or summer wedding? Please leave us a comment with your thoughts…
Inspired by the gorgeous headband from TwigsandHoney.com, we put together this modern fall wedding color palette. The main color is a deep chocolate brown, using anjou pear green as a secondary with a splash of lemon yellow for an accent. Table linens would look fabulous in the rich, dark brown, with gold and yellow accents, while bridesmaids in pear green with dramatic rich brown dahlias, cosmos or sunflowers would be stunning. Chocolate brown wedding invitations with a sparkling Tourmaline green crystal brad and some vintage clip art of feathers or foliage (http://www.formal-invitations.com) would set the tone for a fabulous fall wedding.
Eggplant purple wedding invitation with rust Paisley sash
Purple was the top color in our lastest color poll and we used it as a feature hue for this fall wedding color palette. Rich, dark purple is the dominant color, with rust orange as a secondary and metallic gold for accent. Using this formula, we created these wedding invitations from Formal-Invitations.com (94¢ each with envelope, order at http://www.formal-invitations.com/AS-EggpPais.html) using the heavyweight Eggplant purple and white overlay wrapped with the rust Paisley sash printed with a metallic gold paisley design. The overlay was printed with vintage monogram clip art ($16 also from Formal-Invitations.com, for a book of 812 letters and initials plus cd of scanned images) that could be used throughout the event. Bridesmaids would also look great in purple, carrying a bouquet of orange lilies or roses, accented with gold embellishments.
Inspired by Williams-Sonomas table linens, we created this blue wedding color palette using Denim blue as the main color, Navy as the secondary and Frost as the accent. Blue was selected as a top wedding color from our recent poll and we love the sophisticated hue as well. Denim or navy would be a great choice for modern wedding invitations and bridesmaid dresses, with frosty blue accents, like the Zircon crystal brad from http://www.formal-invitations.com. For the men, a navy suit and french blue or silver satin tie would complete the look.
Inspired by Brooks Brothers.com Fall Looks Collection, we put together this wedding color palette using sophisticated Navy blue, Scarlet Red as a secondary color and modern Kiwi green as an accent. Wedding invitations could feature a Navy blue background card wrapped with a Red Beaded Sash, Unryu with Red Velvet Belt or a Ruby crystal brad from http://www.formal-invitations.com. The bridesmaid dresses would look fabulous in Scarlet Red, accented with a bouquet of lime green orchids. To complete the look use Navy table linens with red roses mixed with the orchids or use red candles accented with kiwi green ribbons as centerpieces.
The results are in from our survey, asking our readers what their primary wedding color will be. Purple and blue were the most popular, followed closely by red and green. We love the elegant shade of dark eggplant purple, the cool blue hues of vibrant turquoise, muted denim and gray-blue frost, rich scarlet red and earthy greens, including basil and pale meadow for this season’s weddings and events.
A general guideline for how to use colors throughout your wedding is to select one primary (60%), a secondary (30%) and an accent (10%). Your wedding reception location is a good place to start when choosing a primary color, make sure the venue decor fits in with your scheme. I like using a neutral for the secondary and a bright or contrasting color as the accent. Use your primary color for your wedding invitations, bridesmaid dresses and table linens. The secondary could be used for centerpieces, flowers, cake and favors, then sprinkle in a splash of the accent color with your embellishments.
