For fall, winter and rustic wedding ideas, fresh cut cedar is ideal for centerpieces, wreaths and garlands plus it provides a fabulous fragrance. Visit Flyboy Farms at http://www.flyboynaturals.com/fresh-cedar.html where you can purchase direct.
We also love these unique chocolate brown invitations with white overlay, tied together with twisted lokta cording. Lokta is a native shrub in Nepal, harvested by cutting the stem, which regenerates in a few years. The inner bark is soaked and hammered, then spread into thin sheets and dried by the sun. The cords are naturally colored using vegetables dyes and after making a simple tie, the ends are unwound to create a beautiful leaf shape (74¢ each, order at http://www.formal-invitations.com/AOT-CHOC-CEDR.html).
Japanese inspired wedding invitation idea
Lyric scenes of exquisite beauty and a mastery of line and composition have characterized Japanese art for thousand of years. Dover Publications offers a treasury of permission-free Japanese clip art cd plus a printed book of the scanned images. We used the idea to create beautiful wedding invitations with decorative brads. We used a lovely crane design to print on our overlay, then fastened it to a Anjou pear green heavyweight background card with a Amethyst jewel brad. Supplies to create the invitation were only 78¢ each, including an envelope made from 100% post consumer fibers, from Formal-Invitations.com. They also offer the clip art cd and book for $14, which can be used for your wedding program, favors, menu cards and more.

The city of Paris is referred to as the most romantic city in the world, the perfect source for inspiration. We used Pantone’s color of the year (Tangerine) and paired it with silver and goldenrod for a chic summer wedding color palette. A designers tip: use 60% of the main color, 30% of the secondary and 10% for the accent throughout your event as a rough guide. For a stunning tabletop using these colors; pair an orange tablecloth with silver chargers/plates accented with yellow napkins and flowers. For invitations, we used the Sunset orange and Goldenrod for these custom printed invitations from Formal-Invitations.com ($164/100), paired with an envelope with a silver liner. Bridesmaids wearing the vibrant orange hue, could add silver shoes and jewelry, while carrying a yellow based bouquet.
We love the relaxed, yet elegant vibe of rustic weddings and created these pretty invitations, inspired by this popular trend. Starting with the on trend gray-green Meadow card and layered with a white overlay for a luxurious heavyweight feel. The cards were then wrapped with a romantic lace wrap and satin moss green band ($1.34 for each invitation with envelope from Formal-Invitations.com, order at http://www.formal-invitations.com/ARY-MEAD-LAMO.html). The overlay was printed with a vintage flower illustration, that also could be used on place cards, menu cards, programs and favor labels ($14 for a book and cd of 417 images, also from Formal-Invitations.com at http://www.formal-invitations.com/OA-ART-PAIS.html).
I think this gorgeous silk Avalana bridal gown ($450 from Coast London) also lends the same, elegant-rustic look with a modern edge… love the high/low hemline!
Invitations should be ordered approximately three months before your event, giving you time to print (or have printed), plus shipping, assembling and addressing. Your announcements for November events should be mailed in September, six to eight weeks before the event date as a general rule.
For fall invitations, we used beautiful leaves for inspiration, using a heavyweight deep purple card and white overlay wrapped with a delicate rice paper unryu sash and metallic gold cording. A real skeletonized leaf was tucked between the sash and overlay for a unique look, standing out from typical flat cards ($1.46 each from Formal-Invitations.com, order at http://www.formal-invitations.com/ALS-EGGP-NUGC.html)
Continuing the leaf theme, we also like these dried lemon leaves, or salal for decorations (they also make a great wreath base). The salal leaves are on the stem, harvested at the peak of freshness then preserved to retain their flexibility and olive green color. The leaves are approximately 2″ to 4″ long on stems approximately 16″ long. 8-12 stems per bunch from Flyboy Naturals (on sale for $17 per bunch).
Roses are ancient symbols of love and beauty and a perfect theme for modern weddings. These beautiful invitations were created using a heavyweight handmade card made from recycled cotton embedded with real rose petals and bits of grass. The cards were layered with translucent vellum, and attached with a sparkling pink quartz crystal brad for a contemporary touch. Order from Formal-Invitations.com ($1.06 each) at http://www.formal-invitations.com/APD-ROSE-QUAR.html. We also love these Le Chocolat en Rose Truffles from Vosges Gourmet Chocolates which combine Piper Heidsieck brut rosè Champagne in 65% cacao dark chocolate, rolled in fragrant rose bud poudre. The name of these truffles is inspired by Edith Piaf’s signature song, La Vie en Rose which in French means “life through rose-colored glasses” or literally “life in pink.”

These gorgeous wedding invitations ($1.02 each by Formal-Invitations.com) were created using heavyweight petal paper made from 100% recycled white cotton, processed chlorine free, embedded with real aster, marigold and cornflower petals plus bits of grass. The beautiful handmade cards are layered with a translucent vellum overlay consisting of pure cellulose fiber, which is naturally translucent and free of resins and chemical additives, recyclable, biodegradable, elemental chlorine free and FSC-certified. The vellum was printed with a vintage bird illustration ($14 for a book of 1268 clip art images with scans on cd from Formal-Invitations.com), which can be used as a motif throughout the entire event on place cards, menus, programs, etc.
A lokta cord was used to attach the vellum to the petal paper card, providing a beautiful and unique embellishment. Lokta is an native shrub in Nepal, harvested by cutting its stem, which regenerates in a few years. The inner bark of lotka is soaked, hammered into pulp then spread into thin sheets and dried by the sun and hand-rolled into cording. The invitations also included an envelope made from 100% post consumer fibers, also processed chlorine free.
