I was inspired by Princess Sophie of Isenburg who wed Prince Georg Friedrich Ferdinand of Prussia this past weekend, for a royal-inspired fall wedding invitation idea… I just love her elegant look; perfect hair and makeup, modern gown and beautiful vintage floral tiara.
For these custom printed invitations, I used pale celery green color for the background, added a modern monogram and vintage acorn artwork, then layered the printed invitation with a heavyweight Chocolate brown card for added weight and dimension ($188/100 for custom printed invitation with backing card and envelope from Formal-Invitations.com, order at http://www.formal-invitations.com/PC-ROYL-FEAT.html).
What do you think of her look?
These fabulous fall wedding invitations feature a rich dark Chocolate brown background cards and white overlay wrapped with a delicate unryu rice paper sash and jacquard band embroidered with gold metallic threads. The Ivry, Merlot, Goldenrod, Papaya and Eggplant purple would also go well with this wrap, you can request a substitution of any of these colors at no extra charge. ($1.54 from Formal-Invitations.com, order at http://www.formal-invitations.com/AY-CHOC-NEUN.html)
Invitations should be ordered approximately three months before your event, giving you time to print (or have printed), plus shipping, assembling and addressing. Your announcements for November events should be mailed in September, six to eight weeks before the event date as a general rule.
For fall invitations, we used beautiful leaves for inspiration, using a heavyweight deep purple card and white overlay wrapped with a delicate rice paper unryu sash and metallic gold cording. A real skeletonized leaf was tucked between the sash and overlay for a unique look, standing out from typical flat cards ($1.46 each from Formal-Invitations.com, order at http://www.formal-invitations.com/ALS-EGGP-NUGC.html)
Continuing the leaf theme, we also like these dried lemon leaves, or salal for decorations (they also make a great wreath base). The salal leaves are on the stem, harvested at the peak of freshness then preserved to retain their flexibility and olive green color. The leaves are approximately 2″ to 4″ long on stems approximately 16″ long. 8-12 stems per bunch from Flyboy Naturals (on sale for $17 per bunch).
If your wedding or event is in October, order your invitation in July so you will have plenty of time to diy or have printed, assemble, address and mail out your announcements… invitations should be mailed six to eight weeks before your event.

The overlay was printed with a simple monogram, using the typeface Century Gothic… the rest was set in Lichten Script for a nice contrast.
Continuing the lace theme, we found this gorgeous rhinestone and french chantilly headband from TwigsandHoney.com ($185). ultra pretty with a 100% silk ribbon self-tie, available in white lace (as pictured) or ivory lace.

Eggplant purple wedding invitation with rust Paisley sash
Purple was the top color in our lastest color poll and we used it as a feature hue for this fall wedding color palette. Rich, dark purple is the dominant color, with rust orange as a secondary and metallic gold for accent. Using this formula, we created these wedding invitations from http://www.formal-invitations.com (82¢ each with envelope) using the heavyweight Eggplant purple and white overlay wrapped with the rust Paisley sash printed with a metallic gold paisley design. The overlay was printed with vintage monogram clip art ($16 also from Formal-Invitations.com, for a book of 812 letters and initials plus cd of scanned images) that could be used throughout the event. Bridesmaids would also look great in purple, carrying a bouquet of orange lilies or roses, accented with gold embellishments.
