DIY French Blue Wedding Invitations with Lokta Wrap
For a fresh spring wedding invitation idea, we used the heavyweight French Blue background card and white overlay wrapped with a Birch lokta cord embellishment . The overlay was printed with vintage invitation clip art of a lovely bird from Dover’s “Floral, Folk and Paisley Designs” book of 417 images), which would also look great printed on favor labels, menu cards, place cards and programs.
Lokta is an native shrub in Nepal, harvested by cutting its stem, which regenerates in a few years. The inner bark of lotka is soaked, hammered into pulp then spread into thin sheets and dried by the sun. The Birch white lokta twisted cord contains 50% recycled lokta fibers, the ends are gently unraveled to reveal a beautiful leaf shape.
